The State Dining Room, originally the 1st floor of the North Wing, was one room and it was the first great hall of the Castle. The whole of the household lived, ate and slept in the room, but by the end of the medieval period this room was too small and the Great Hall was built. The Dining Room, shown here, is displayed as this room might have been at the time of John Ferrers in the 17th century.
